British Police Refuse To Investigate Crime

11.24.2008 - Yobs have overturned your car? Call the AA say police

A gang of 30 teenagers overturned Colleen Donnelly's car in Bloxwich, West Midlands, and when her boyfriend, Simon White, called the police to report it, they told him to call the AA (equivalent of the AAA here in the States) instead. "I couldn't believe they were telling me to call a breakdown service," said Mr. White. Unfortunately, neither Ms. Donnelly nor Mr. White belong to the AA, and insurance won't cover the damages, so Ms. Donnelly has been left without a means of transportation.

Seeing as how it was probably tea time (when isn't it in England), we're not at all surprised by the lack of response by the police. Here in America, when we flip someone's car, we buy them a new one. Ms. Donnelly might want to take a similar approach, demanding that police buy her a new car, but we doubt that would ever work. A commenter on the article offered this advice: "ten years ago I never thought I'd be even considering this suggestion, but
you're still under 50 mate, so you and your young family have got a very good chance of being accepted as an immigrant to Australia or New Zealand. I suggest that you all start packing your bags, fast. Time now to save yourselves."
