Say you're vacationing, getting some much needed R&R, only to return home and find it completely gutted. Your kitchen is gone. Your bathroom is gone. Kind of brings back all that stress you thought you relieved yourself of on vacation, doesn't it.
Well, that's exactly what happened to Claire Walton when she returned to her home in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. The government had bought homes a few streets down and marked them for demolition in order to make way for new modern flats. In what the government is regarding as a "clerical error," the contractors were given the correct house number, but the wrong street name. Woops. Progress correcting the mistake has been slow, as the government is just now thinking about offering an apology. "I feel I have no control in that I've just been treated as worthless," said Ms. Walton. Once again, England, way to go!
