Britain's third largest package holiday group, XL, has gone out of business, leaving roughly 90,000 vacationers without a flight back home. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is scrambling to find return flights for those stranded abroad. Who's paying for all these extra vacation days? Well, those who booked through third parties are covered by CAA's Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (Atol). However, the unfortunate ones who booked directly with XL will have to pay a fee.
Good going, XL. How typical of the British to screw people over and offer no relief. These people trusted you, booked directly through you, and you make them pay a fee for the inconvenience of finding them a new flight? Now that's what we call customer service.
