Prince William has been given credit for a major drug smuggling bust while serving in the Royal Navy as part of his training to become head of Britian’s armed forces. While sailing aboard the frigate HMS Iron Duke in the West Indies, the defense ministry claims Prince William spotted a suspicious speedboat and alerted the ship’s captain who, in turn, informed the U.S. Coast Guard about the vessel. The Coast Guard boarded the vessel and found almost a ton of cocaine. While Prince William is being credited for the seizure, it’s clearly just another public relations maneuver by the Crown. Prince William has been under fire since April when he briefly landed an RAF helicopter on his girlfriend’s family estate while serving with the Royal Air Force. The British media frowned at William’s stunt, calling his shenanigan wasteful and inappropriate at a time when the armed forces are being pushed to their limits by wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. On a related note, God Bless America, her Independence, and the ICBR this week of July 4th.
