Letter To The ICBR: Re: interesting points raised

03.15.2007

you raised some interesting points, however most of it utter tripe.

I'll start off with the language. The english language is made up of several different languages and therefore there is plenty of words in there to express ones self. Saying that the british have a strangle hold over the language is false since most people who choose to learn English as a foreign language choose to learn an American form of English, which all the americanisms associated with it. If anything through the media and film, which is mainly an american dominated industry, americanisms are creeping into the british form of English, thus proving that American english is actually a stronger language. If you happen to venture out into east london, then you would realise that the cockney accent is under threat of extinction from American English, as most the kids there choose to adopt a more american style of speaking.

Let's look at some of your other headings.

So why is England so awful.

Genocide - If the pilgrim fathers hadn't landed at plymouth rock, then America in its current capacity wouldn't exist.

The Fledgling American nation then systematically chose to wipe out the indian tribes, i can't say that in any point in Englands past, there hasn't been native blood spilled on english soil, however if you would care to learn some english history, you would realise that this blood has been spilt by other nations, not the english. for example, the origional tribes of england were assimilated by the romans, who then assimilated the celts and the picts. There hasn't been a systematic destruction of local languages and dialects and in fact there are measures to save them as in wales and scotland.

The industrial revolution was a difficult period in Englands past but mechanisation of industry led in the long run to great improvements in productivity therefore eliminating starvation. Public health systems eventually set up for the cities ensured the citizens would remain healthy.

Melting of the polar icecaps - number one, this hasn't been proven to cause this. number 2 you'll find that america's carbon footprint is far larger than that of the U.K. and the u.k. are taking steps to reduce their carbon emissions, where america is dragging their feet because of feared loss of profit to industry.

Global misrule, ok the imperialistic days of britain wasn't great but it did open up exploration, categorisation of species and a unity not found in todays world. british rule didn't just bring death war and famine as you seem to suggest, it also brought free trade and new technologies to the rest of the world.

What are you on about when you say if the british hadn't waited until their backs were up against the wall. If you had studied your 20th century history you would understand that it was a caticlysm of events that plunged the world into war in 1914. Britain was dragged into that war since it was part of an alliance with france and belgium. Lo and behold too, the americans only got involved in that war when it suited them as in it helped them turn around an ailing economy by preparing for arms and also when america's trade was threatened.

the second world war was not started by britain, it was instead started by the nazi lead germany who's leader, a certain adolf hitler, was a soldier in the first world war and chose to ignore the conditions imposed by the versaille treaty. These were harsh, however they were also overseen by an american president at the time who agreed to them. America was getting a cut of that money.

Bad inventions. ok, some of these were bad inventions, however it was an american inventor, hiram maxim who invented the machine gun. So how's that an english invention. Slums = affordable housing. child labour has been perpitraded by every country in the world at some point. bad hygiene, can't be attributed just to the english, the french and german aristocracy of the 15th century were some of the smelliest people around.

the black plague doesn't exist. it's either called the beubonic plague or the black death and you can't say that the english invented it you idiot, it's just that england was afflicted by it at one stage in the past.

concentration camps. There you go defending the airian race again you nazi. you really are getting britain confused with europe. study your world history.

Soccer isn't called soccer, it's called football.

The modern university isn't an english invention, where did you pull that fact out from. The university actually comes from Greece. another european country, but you wouldn't know that.

the 31 trillion figure.

the first iraq war was started by america over oil. just that the english prime minister at the time had his tongue too far up clintons arse to say no to a little bit of fighting.

second iraq war.

see the 1st iraq war.

versailles refund. are you gonna make the american nation give back what it gained from the treaty then? what about the belgian nation who lost most of their country to that war.

feel free to mail me back on any pointers.
