Tucked away in the outskirts of Manchester there's a one-mile stretch of road that locals have dubbed "Alcohol Alley." Though it's officially called Moston Lane, the nickname is entirely more fitting because the stretch is home to a ridiculous 22 bars and liquor stores. That's one bar every 80 yards! Because of the stiff competition, all these establishments are locked in a heated battle for the lowest prices.
Not surprisingly, the area is also notorious for its incredibly high crime rate. An average of 422 alcohol-related crimes were reported each month in Moston from July to September. And with the current economic landscape, more and more people are flocking to "Alcohol Alley" to drink up on the cheap.
One mile of cheap booze--that sounds like an Englishman's paradise! Who knew that a little slice of heaven existed in the lowly outskirts of Manchester? Well, it looks like you Brits have you weekends planned. We know it sounds impossible, but try not to cause too much trouble. Cleaning vomit, urine and blood from the streets is no fun.
