Three years after its release, The Evil Empire continues to to stir controversy in the blogosphere and reviews keep pouring in.
Here's an excerpt from The Trench blog's review:
When I hear the word “Brit” I think of a conceited aristocrat sipping tea. Is that mildly racist? Perhaps, but growing up I saw the British stereotype portrayed as a stuck-up, upperclassman all the time whether it be in cartoons or movies. The fact is the British Empire had the largest Empire the world had ever seen, an area that even outnumbered the Russian and Roman Empires combined. Not too shabby, but England, like all Empires, was far from perfect. There is a book entitled The Evil Empire: 101 Ways England Ruined the World by Steven Grasse that pretty mush bashes the English for making the world the dump it is today. And while many points I have read about the book seem over-the-top and just risible, some of them are quite eye-opening.
Another day, another set of eyes opened!
