If your job consists solely of writing "Bus Stop" in bright yellow paint on roads, it's not preposterous to assume that you know exactly which seven letters to paint. But for one Briton, the word "stop"--as in, "stop getting drunk every day, it's bad for your health"--was just too overwhelmingly difficult to spell. The fool ended up painting "Bus Stor" on a road in Oldham.
Even more embarrassing for the quasi-illiterate road painter is that an 11-year-old boy discovered his blunder, and had some scathing words for him to boot.
"I'm not sure if it's a case of people not being able to spell these days or that they just can't be bothered," he said adding, "Either way, it's a pretty poor effort at spelling something simple."
Easy for you to say, kid. Your teacher just taught you how to spell "stop." Wait 40 years, then we'll see if you can spell it correctly with the few brain cells your years of drinking (and who knows what else) have spared you.
