10-Year-Old Tries To Sell Grandma On eBay, Narrowly Avoids Getting Charged With Human Trafficking

10.01.2009 - eBay bans schoolgirl from selling her grandmother

Zoe Pemberton, a 10-year-old from Clacton, Essex, is not too fond of her grandmother. She harbors such a dislike for her, that she put her up for sale on eBay. In the ad, young Zoe describes her grandma as "annoying" but "cuddly." The posting garnered a number of offers, but none were accepted as eBay bosses stepped in and removed it, claiming that they don't allow the selling of humans.

"Obviously we have rules about the selling of people," said an eBay spokesperson.

Congratulations to eBay for interfering and doing the right thing. England has a penchant for human trafficking--why with that whole "middle passage" business from back in the day. Unlike the virtuous eBay bosses, Queen Elizabeth I approved of this slave trading so long as she got a piece of the pie (and boy did she ever). Yes, it's too bad the eBay brass wasn't around back then to stop Queen Elizabeth I and her goons from shipping innocent Africans to a life of slavery. Maybe if they had, England wouldn't owe over £30 trillion in reparations.
