Nanny State Gets Nannier

09.23.2009 - Artificially Intelligent CCTV could prevent crimes before they happen

With over 4 million cameras spread across the country, England is easily the most surveilled country in the world. Whatever you're doing, rest assured that the police is watching. However, studies have found that the army of CCTV cameras do little to prevent crime. That's why a team of engineers and scientists are working hard to roll out the next generation of cameras.

Dubbed ISIS, these cameras will be able to detect shady behavior and issue a warning in order to prevent a crime from occurring. They'll even be able to call the nearest police unit to the scene. The cameras will look for such criminal telltale sings as: hooded tops, sudden movements, peculiar behavior (like constantly changing seats on a train), and aggressive language. In other words, if you keep on offering your seat to an elderly person, you can expect to be handcuffed and questioned in no time.

We're sure these new smart cameras will be implemented without a hitch. Nope, no officers will be alerted to non-existent crimes. And if they do, we're sure the officers will be quite understanding about the mistake. British police officers are as famous for their pleasant disposition as they are for their effectiveness.
